His Beatitude, the Regretted, Maximos V, Patriarch / Batriyark of the cities of Antioch, Alexandria and Jerusalem, of Cilicia, Syria, Iberia, Arabia Mesopotamia, Pentapolis, Ethiopia, of all of Egypt and the entire East, Father of Fathers, Pastor of Pastors, Bishop of Bishops, the Thirteenth of The Holy Apostles worked for the reunification of the Antiochian Patriarchate. During the time of His Beatitude, the Regretted, Maximos V, Patriarch / Batriyark , the Holy Synod was seeking ways to reunite with the Greek Orthodox Patriarch / Batriyark of Antioch, Ignatios, so that our Antiochene Church throughout the world may be one, and united with the Pope. They were following the teaching of His Holiness Ioannes Paulus II (John Paul II) that the solution to the reunion of East and West lies in the understanding of the undivided Church of the first millennium. During the Twentyfirst Ecumenical Council also named Council of Vatican II, His Beatitude, the Regretted, Maximos V, Patriarch / Batriyark spoke on behalf of the "absent brother", the great Orthodox Church.
