Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called was the first person Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ called to be His disciple. The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called was the first called of the original twelve Apostles.

Biography

30 November - The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called was the son of Jonas.
The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew's brother was The Holy, Glorious and Illustrious Prince of the Apostles Peter.
The two brothers were a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee.

The two brothers' friends and co-workers were two brothers, Gorious Apostle John the Theologian and Evangelist and Holy Apostle James, Brother of John the Evangelist.

These four were first called by Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ to follow Him. (Mt. 4:18-22) (Mk. 1:16-20) (Lk. 5:1-11) (Jn. 1:35-42)

The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called was also a follower of The Holy Prophet and Glorious Forerunner John the Baptist. (Matt. 4:18-22) (Mk. 1:16-20) (Lk. 5:1-11) (Jn. 1:35-42)

The early Christian historian Eusebios says that after the Resurrection of Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ, The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called preached the Gospel in Scythia, the region between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, now the Republic of Georgia and Chechnya.

According to tradition, The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called was crucified on an X-shaped cross in Patras, Greece.

Apostolic See of Constantinople

According to tradition, The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called is connected with the establishment of the Apostolic See of Constantinople and was its first Bishop.

Patron Saint

The Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called is the patron saint of many countries, including Greece, Russia, and Scotland.

26 Nov. - 24 Dec., at every Sunday and feast-day liturgy.

Today the Virgin is on her way to the cave where she will give birth to the Eternal Word of God in an ineffable manner. Rejoice, therefore, O universe, when you hear this news, and glorify with the angels and the shepherds Him who shall appear as a newborn Babe, being God from all eternity.

Let us praise for his courage Andrew the Theologian, first Apostle of the Savior and brother of Peter, for just as he drew his brother to Christ, for in the like manner as he drew his brother to Christ, he is crying out to us, "Come, for we have found the One whom the world desires!"

Melkite Greek Catholic Church Information Center is dedicated to my cousins: Bucky (Richard C. Liles), Shirley (Shirley Jean Liles Buck), and Donna (Donna Bertha Liles Campbell). Bucky fell asleep in the Lord on Dec. 12, 2000, Shirley fell asleep in the Lord on Nov. 8, 2001, and Donna fell asleep in the Lord on March 9, 2020.
O God of all spirits and of all flesh, who have destroyed death, overcome the devil, and given life to the world: grant, O Lord, to the souls of your servants Bucky and Shirley, who has departed from this life, that it may rest in a place of light, in a place of happiness, in a place of peace, where there is no pain, no grief, no sighing. And since You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, forgive him/her every sin he/she has committed by thought, or word, or deed, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin : You alone are without sin, your righteousness is everlasting, and your word is true. You are the Resurrection and the Life, and the repose of your departed servants Bucky and Shirley. O Christ our God, and we send up glory to You, together with your eternal Father and your all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and always and for ages upon ages. Amen.
