On the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent, Our Venerable Mother Mary of Egypt is commemorated to remind us that no one
is so sinful that Holy God
cannot touch their hearts and bring them to repentance and salvation. We honor Our Venerable Mother Mary of Egypt as a great example of a person who
lead a life of sin, experienced Holy God's love, repented, and then converted from a to a life of holiness and repentance. ApostolosHebrews 9:11-14 The Apostolos explains the saving effect of Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ's sacrifice of his own blood to take away our sins. GospelMark 10:32-45 Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ's forewarned to his followers about his Passion and death. This Gospel also tells the story of how James and John asked to be seated next to Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ's in glory, to which He replied that they didn't know what they were asking, because to share in His glory they would have to share in His suffering. Finally He explains: "Whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be the slave of all. For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
