Great Feast of Pentecost - Second Sunday after Pentecost - The Sunday of the Divine Body - Call of the First Apostles
The Second Sunday after Pentecost is the conclusion of the Feast of the Divine Body.
Apostolos
Letter of St Paul to the Romans Chapter 2, verses 10-16 (Rom. 2:10-16) - This letter
provides an understanding of how the Holy, Glorious and Illustrious Prince of the Apostles Paul was able to take the Gospel to the
Gentiles.
The Holy, Glorious and Illustrious Prince of the Apostles Paul writes that the people who are under the Law of Moses (the
Jews) will be judged according to how they follow the Law and that
those who are not under the Law (the Gentiles) will be judged according
to how they follow the will of Holy God, which is like a "law written on
their hearts." In order to be saved, all people, both Jews and
Gentiles, must follow the law of Holy God according to the way in which Holy God
has given it to them.
Gospel
Matthew 4:18-23 - This Gospel describes how Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ
called the first four Apostles: Holy and Illustrious Apostle Andrew, The First-Called and his brother Holy, Glorious and Illustrious Prince of the Apostles Peter, Holy Apostle James, Brother of John and Evangelist, and his brother Glorious Apostle John the Theologian and Evangelist.
These four people were fishermen. Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ said to them, "Come and follow Me, and I will make
you fishers of men."
The Gospel doesn't say whether or not they knew
Jesus or asked Him any questions or realized that He was God.
The Gospel says, "Immediately they left their nets and followed Him."
The reading
ends with the statement that Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ went throughout Galilee, teaching in
the synagogues, and proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom and curing
every disease and sickness among the people.
This Gospel reading continues the
theme of Pentecost and of the Sunday of All Saints--the mission Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ
has given to all of us to follow Him and His will.

O God of all spirits and of all flesh, who have destroyed death, overcome the devil, and given life to the world: grant, O Lord, to the souls of your servants
Bucky and Shirley, who has departed from this life, that it may rest in a place of light, in a place of happiness, in a place of peace, where there is no pain, no
grief, no sighing. And since You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, forgive him/her every sin he/she has committed by thought, or word, or deed, for
there is not a man who lives and does not sin : You alone are without sin, your righteousness is everlasting, and your word is true. You are the Resurrection and
the Life, and the repose of your departed servants Bucky and Shirley. O Christ our God, and we send up glory to You, together with your eternal Father and your
all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and always and for ages upon ages. Amen.
